Pringle Bay Hack Report No 133

The change of season created havoc today! The convenor made the mistake, in the previous report, that today’s hack would start at 08h00. After personally communicating with all hackers, it was confirmed we are now on Autumn/Winter time and all hacks going forward will start at 08h30. Until we see Summertime again! Betty’s Bay Hack Report No 660

What a peculiar hack! We started off with 6 people with an average age of about 80, and ended up with 21, with an average age of about 40! Lots of Rooikrans and Spider gums bit the dust. Thank you all. The tea was made by Merran Silberbauer, and the sandwiches by Jane Fearnhead. We were then spoilt with Melktert from Sandra Horn and scones from Catherine Jaussaud. Thank you all! ‘Your Place in the Kogelberg’, the E-Book Version

Until the early 1950’s only people with determination and a passion for remote and unspoilt places made their way to the southern coastal part of the Kogelberg. The Wednesday Hack

Work continued on the slopes of the Klein Hangklip Mountains between Pringle Bay and Rooi Els. During the month 54 Man-hack days were thrown at the enemy. Namibia - Prime birding in magnificent and varied habitats – By Otto Schmidt (17 May 2018) From Vioolsdrif one crosses the Orange River. Walk Report – April 2018

Botsoc Kogelberg Walk Report - By Tim Attwell (17th March 2018) After a series of more challenging walks, the intention was to take this one easy with a botanical ramble in the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens, go slow and easy up the Bobbejaanskop path and hopefully see the last of Nivenia stokoei near the top.
