Ten ways to support Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens

One of the core purposes of the Botanical Society of South Africa is to support the work of the National Botanical Gardens. Betty’s Bay’s Judy New is a great traveller. She is also a great presenter of those travels. Over the years we have enjoyed her journeys to Papua New Guinea, the Richtersveld, Central Kalahari, Peru - and now the destination is Antarctica! Judy and cousin, Sue Goodman, a photographer, went on a voyage to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands; together they will convey to us the excitement of icebergs, penguins, elephant seals, high snowy peaks, and intrepid explorers. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION

Merrilee Berrisford Rooi Els resident, Louise du Toit, jeweller, weaver, naturalist, has made two big contributions to Kogelberg Branch; first by creating a wonderful pendant which we raffled, raising nearly R6000 which went towards the publication of Your Place in the Kogelberg, and secondly by translating that book into Afrikaans for us. In both cases, Louise has acted on her own initiative, without being asked. We have a really good way of thanking her and recognising her special efforts: awarding her the Botanical Society’s Certificate of Appreciation.
