THE BATTLE OF BETTY’S BAY: REPORT ON HACK NO 635

Frik Potgieter, Convenor The enthusiasm of last month’s hackers must have inspired a lot of people since a large contingent pitched up and tackled the enemy with gusto on a glorious day. Thank you all! However, as we worked it became apparent that there are still many more Rooikrans on the verges so it is back to the same site next month. Di Knott provided the sandwiches and Merran Silberbauer the tea. Thank you ladies! Present were John and Andrea Benn, Merrilee Berrisford with daughter Alison and son Stephen and grandchildren Xavier, Zara, Scott and…

With neither Di Knott or Christine Dreyer available, Merran Silberbauer roped in willing sandwich maker, Hilary Butler from British Columbia, Canada. They made the sandwiches and tea for the hackers: Frik Potgieter, Hilary and Maarten Mauve, John Whitehead, Rosemary Fowkes, Jan and Betsey Joubert, Sue Fielden…

PRINGLE BAY HACK N0 111

Chris Geldenhuys, Convenor Although it might look like a cricket ‘Nelson’, the 111th Pringle Bay hack was very successful. On 28 February 2016 the Pringle Bay Hack Group assembled and performed a productive hack in Diagonal and Peak Roads of Pringle Bay. The major challenge was the Rooikrantz bushes, but even more so the ever-present Australian Myrtle. (See the before and after photos below.) Despite the wind, the attendance was overwhelmingly good with a total of 21 members! In an effort to counter the heat of the previous hack, Mike brought along a jerrycan to…
