BOOKS FOR HANTAM NBG

- Merrilee Berrisford Judy New’s last Botsoc fundraiser was dedicated to buying a collection of books on the environment for Harold Porter NBG and also for the Hantam NBG. Betty’s Bay resident and branch member, Karin Fry, was on a flower trip with friend Caro Attwell (both regulars at our talks); they visited Nieuwoudtville and there in the Park, Karin was able to hand over the collection to Curator Eugene Marinus. We understand the Garden’s library is the old sitting room of Neil and Neva McGregor’s house, a good place for our books.

PRINGLE BAY HACK REPORT NO 118

- Chris Geldenhuys, Convenor For the third time in a row the Pringle Bay Hack Group gathered in the Point area, again for the Rooikrantz and Australian Myrtle which were still a serious threat in that area. On 30 October 2016 we hacked the verges of Hangklip Road, Point Road, Albatross Road and Gull Road. Most of the Rooikrantz in the Point area has now been removed and the residents were requested to keep a hand on the matter. AN INTERNATIONAL HONOUR FOR A BRANCH MEMBER

- Merran Silberbauer Dr Tony Cunningham, who is a member of our Kogelberg branch has recently received the Society for Economic Botany’s (SEB) 2016 “Distinguished Economic Botanist” award in recognition of his contribution to ethnobotany and economic botany over the past 36 years.
