Pringle Bay Hack Report No 138

Kindly take note that there was a Hack Report 138, but it was actually a nil return in the sense that the hack was stopped due to rain on the day.

Pringle Bay Hack Report No 139

Today, 30 September 2018, was the first scorcher of Spring and what a great turnout! After the cancellation in August due to the rain we had a second session on the plot next to the entrance to Pringle Bay. We again engaged with the serious infestation of Eucalyptus Spider Gum, Rooikrantz, Port Jackson, Australian Myrtle and Pine trees.

Today we tackled the north-eastern quarter of the plot, and what a difference! Thank you, guys, as always; the spirit in achieving today’s work was wonderful, and the teamwork was impressive!

The Australian Myrtle Monster that survived from last time!

The monster after the “pre-cut”!

All that was left of the Slaughtered “Beast”!

For the new hackers to take note of the indigenous Metrosideros angustifolia, that are flourishing along the stream!

What a bumper crowd of 36 hackers we had today! Thank you guys, good show! Welcome back to Andy, it was good to have you back! The new hackers for today were:

Bernie Becker (Already an old hand at the Wednesday Hack), Harry Molenaar, Belinda Rabe, Ingrid Weideman and Penny Koch.

All participated energetically and enthusiastically! You are most welcome to the Pringle Bay Hack and we hope to see you every time that you are available.

A special word of thanks for the contribution and support provided by Frik, Jan, Tom, Natalie, Jeannie, Richard and Bernard of the Betty’s Bay Hack to the Pringle Bay Hack. Their efforts and encouragement are, as always, greatly appreciated!

Today the John Whitehead Floating Trophy was awarded to all the individuals who serve the hackers the delicious mid-morning refreshments at every hack, here as well as in Betty’s Bay. So, thanks to Dave and Lena and Karen here in Pringle Bay, and Merran, Christine and Jane in Betty’s Bay for your splendid service and friendly support.

The trophy will float among all at the hack meetings for the next two months.

A special word of thanks goes to Adriaan, from the Mini Mark, for the generous monthly donation of tea and sandwiches for the Hack Group. It is, as always, greatly appreciated by all.

Please take note that the next monthly hack will be on Saturday 27 October 2018. As usual we will meet on the pavement opposite Drosters Centre, in Central Avenue, Pringle Bay, at 08:30 after which we will proceed to the hack site. The hack ends at 11:30. Everyone who would like to help rid Pringle Bay of alien vegetation will be welcome. Hacking tools are provided. Contact Chris at (028) 273 8588, or just turn up at the meeting point.
