 WALKS PLANNED FOR 2018

17 FEBRUARY 2018

February marks the beginning of the end of summer, the last reasonably reliable summer weather. It’s time to go for a swim in the river. Well, if you don’t swim in rivers there’s still plenty to see along the Palmiet River Trail in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. That’s where we’ll be heading on the 17th February.

Although in a perfect world we could make it all the way to ‘The Beach’ on the Palmiet River, it takes about one and a half hours of steady walking one way, there is another wonderful swimming hole only twenty minutes walking from the Reserve offices at Oudebosch.

This is one to invite friends, young and pretending to be young, to come along, especially friends and relatives; Capetonians could use the abundance of water. Bring drinks, hot and cold, and snacks. Surreptitiously wear a swimming costume and sunblock. Your hat and sturdy walking boots or shoes will be more obvious.

It’s best not to expect to get back in time for late morning shopping and Saturday morning chores. You don’t want to rush this. We won’t, however, take all day but aim to be back between 1 and 2pm.

Entry to the Kogelberg Nature Reserve is R40 per person if you don’t have a Wild Card.
