PRINGLE BAY HACK REPORT N0 129

Today 29 October 2017 the Pringle Bay Hack Group tackled the old Hospital site, plot 496 and cleared the greater part of the plot of mainly Rooikrantz. We were surprised to see the wide spectrum of natural Fynbos that does exist on the ridge of this plot. The Wild Olive is impressive! Thank you guys for a good achievement, but there is plenty more left to clear! We will tackle that at a later stage.

Today the attendance was good and the following 24 members performed the hack; Louw Toerien, Andree Henning, Neil and Penny Berens, Tom Dreyer, Dave Muirhead, Frik Potgieter, Edward Siberbauer, Keith and Di Foster, Carol Wilson, Mike Meyer, Pieter Snyman, Ulli Niemann, Willem Stiglingh, Sandy Middleton, Chris Cadman, Natalie and Bernard van Wulven, Jeannie Harning, Robyn Lawson, Richard Smeda, together with Chris Geldenhuys. Today the Pringle Bay Hack was joined by Mike Robinson, from Rooi Els, thanks Mike your effort is much appreciated and we wish to see you again at the next hack. Thank you all for today’s valuable contribution!

A special word of thanks for the contribution and support provided by the members of the Bettys Bay Hack to the Pringle Bay Hack. Their efforts and encouragement are, as always, greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Karin Toerien and Dave Muirhead for the kind and delicious mid-morning refreshments!! Karin the sandwiches were super cool!

Again a special word of thanks go to Peter and Joyce of the Mini Mark for the generous monthly donation of the tea and sandwiches for the Hack Group, it was as always greatly appreciated by all. We were informed that they have sold the shop, but they have requested the new owners to continue with their good practice of supporting the hackers with the ingredients for the tea breaks!  Thank you very much Peter and Joyce for this generous proposal and all the support that you have provided for us over the last three years! It will be appreciated if all hackers can express their thanks, whenever you meet them in the Mini Mark.

The next and last monthly hack for 2017 will be on Sunday 26 November 2017. As usual we will meet on the pavement opposite Drosters Centre, in Central Avenue, Pringle Bay, at 08:30. From there we will proceed to the hack site. The hack stops at 11:30. The group has decided that we will then close the year with a function. Details to follow at a later stage.

Everyone who would like to help rid Pringle Bay of alien vegetation is welcome.  Hacking tools are provided. Contact Chris at (028) 273 8588, or just turn up at the meeting point.

Chris Geldenhuys, Convenor.
