Qhayita Secondary School pupils admire the gift books

Last year a BotSoc member living in our area, someone who chooses to be anonymous, offered to buy the six books in the Indigenous Knowledge Series by Cambridge University Press for the Kogelberg branch to give to a deserving school. Both Curator, Berenice Carolus, and Eunice Jurgens, Senior Environmental Education Officer at Harold Porter NBG, were unanimous that Qhayiya Secondary School in Zwelihle, Hermanus, was the obvious choice. Recently Eunice was at the school to present the books and this is what she wrote: ‘The school loved the books as the photos will show and the geography teacher, Mr Gadla, is over the moon with the rich information he found in the books. When they visit the garden for a lesson I will invite you to meet them.
