PRINGLE BAY HACK N0 111

Chris Geldenhuys, Convenor

Although it might look like a cricket ‘Nelson’, the 111th Pringle Bay hack was very successful. On 28 February 2016 the Pringle Bay Hack Group assembled and performed a productive hack in Diagonal and Peak Roads of Pringle Bay. The major challenge was the Rooikrantz bushes, but even more so the ever-present Australian Myrtle. (See the before and after photos below.)

Despite the wind, the attendance was overwhelmingly good with a total of 21 members! In an effort to counter the heat of the previous hack, Mike brought along a jerrycan to hydrate the hackers, but as Murphy’s Law will have it, it was that hot this time. But thank you for the idea, Mike!

The following hackers performed the hack: John Whitehead, Edward Silberbauer, Sue Fielden, Frik Potgieter, Sue Folb, Neil and Penny Berens, Marita and Gert Grobbelaar, Andy James, Tom Dreyer, Karen and Louw Toerien, Mike Begley, Rienie Schenk, Andree and Pierre Henning, Carol Wilson, together with Chris Geldenhuys.

A special word of thanks for the contribution and support provided by the members of the Bettys Bay Hack to the Pringle Bay Hack. Their efforts and encouragement are, as always, greatly appreciated.

Ellen and Dave Muirhead provided the ever necessary mid-morning refreshments. Thanks you two! Again a special word of thanks go to Peter and Joyce of the Mini Mark for the generous donations towards the tea and sandwiches for the Hack Group – it was as always greatly appreciated by all.

The Street hack did not operate in February. This group meets bi-weekly and Lezette can be contacted on 0282738450 or 0823983446 to assist. We urgently need more members for this type of hack.

The next monthly hack will be on Sunday 27 March 2016. As usual we will meet on the pavement opposite Drosters Centre, in Central Avenue, Pringle Bay, at 08:30 whereafter we will proceed to the hack site. The hack ends at 11:30. Everyone who would like to help rid Pringle Bay of alien vegetation will be welcome.  Hacking tools are provided. Contact Chris on 028 273 8588, or just turn up at the meeting point.
