“FROGS” Andrew Turner, 16 February 2019 Are you a frogger?  After Andrew Turner’s most interesting and informative talk we will be using our ears rather than binoculars as we walk around Betty’s Bay’s wetlands. Particularly in the evenings, tune your ears to the sounds of an African night. Frogging can be a science or a recreation as we make exciting discoveries of these little creatures. Walk Report

Remoteness, tranquillity, a slow walk, sunny and mild weather, pristine Cape seashore vegetation, sweeping beaches, rock pools, sea shell strewn coves, good humour, birds and a spot to have tea and watch the whale out at sea. It doesn’t get better. Six members and guests set off on the 21st October to ramble along the sea shore from Betty’s Bay’s beautiful Silversands beach towards Cape Hangklip in perfect weather. Having no fixed destination set us free to take our time. We would stop for tea when we felt like it and then retrace our steps.…

Dr Ernst van Jaarsveld, horticulturist and curator of the Kirstenbosch Conservatory: Cape Agulhas to Angola Expedition Rea Borcherds A large audience turned out to enjoy the privilege of hearing world expert botanist, horticulturalist and author Ernst van Jaarsveld give a comprehensive overview of his explorations all around southern Africa in search of succulent plants. Ernst recently retired from Kirstenbosch after 41 years as curator of the Conservatory there.
