Pringle Bay Hack Report No 131

On 28 January 2018 the Pringle Bay Hack Group convened for the first hack of 2018. We agreed to adhere to our summer start time of 08h00 until further notice. The target today was mainly Rooikrantz, along Hangklip – and False Bay Roads. Although the hacking was tough, the numbers in the Group made the big Rooikrantz trees disappear quickly. Thank you, guys that was a good achievement. A few bright stars displayed their enthusiasm to get rid of these invaders!

Today’s attendance was just as good as November’s record with the following 30 members performing the hack:

Louw and Karen Toerien, Mike Begley, Andree Henning, Neil and Penny Berens, Tom Dreyer, Marita Grobbelaar, Andy James, Jan Joubert, Dave Muirhead, Frik Potgieter, Edward Silberbauer, Sue Fielden, Hillary and Anthony Harris, Mike and Ilse Meyer, Pieter Snyman, Ulli Niemann, Willem Stiglingh, Bernard & Natalie van Wulven, Jeannie Harning, Robyn Lawson, Richard Smeda, Mike Robinson, Selwyn Botha  together with Chris Geldenhuys.
Today the Pringle Bay Hack was joined by Justin Elves from Rooi Els and as the youngest member he proved himself worthy as an inspired hacker!

A special word of thanks for the contribution and support provided by the members of the Bettys Bay Hack to the Pringle Bay Hack. Their efforts and encouragement are, as always, greatly appreciated, but specifically today!

Thanks to Lena and Dave Muirhead for the delicious mid-morning refreshments. The Hack Group presented a gift of appreciation to Peter and Joyce for their generous donation of  tea and sandwiches for the past three years. You can be assured that all the hackers appreciated your contribution. (The Hackfish, symbolising the fight against the invaders was created by Willem Stiglingh, through his Red Door Studio). A special word of thanks goes to Adriaan, the new owner of the Mini Mark for the generous monthly donation of the tea and sandwiches for the Hack Group, it was as always greatly appreciated.

The next monthly hack will be on Sunday 25 February 2018. As usual we will meet on the pavement opposite Drosters Centre, in Central Avenue, Pringle Bay, at 08:00 where after we will proceed to the hack site. The hack stops at 11:00. Everyone who would like to help rid Pringle Bay of alien vegetation will be welcome.  Hacking tools are provided. Contact Chris at (028) 273 8588, or just turn up at the meeting point.
