THE BATTLE OF BETTY’S BAY: HACK REPORT 645

Frik Potgieter, Convenor

Another well attended hack on a beautiful day and a remarkable start to 2017! Ex convener Malcolm Pollard used to call this a ‘bring a friend hack’ – the reason for that will become apparent when you read the list of attendees below. We are really making an impact on the verges of Porter Drive and the end is in sight!

Di Knott provided the sandwiches and Merran Silberbauer the tea. Thank you ladies! Also thank you to Penguin Place for again donating the bread for aforesaid sandwiches.

Those attending were:
Malcolm’s son-in-law Martin Bensch brought his two sons Sean and Michael, Frik Potgieter brought his grandson Juan Lintvelt, Jan and Betsey Joubert brought grandsons Luke and Tim, Tony Cunningham, visiting from Australia, came with his daughter Erin who brought botanist friend Anna Hard from Vienna, Carole Roberts was with partner “Spaggs” Spaggiari, Natalie van Wulven and Jeannie Harning were with Karen Masara and Sandra Horn and her son Liam. Peter Rondi is out from Canada and John McNaught Davis drove out from Somerset West. The regulars included Tom Dreyer, John Whitehead, John and Sue Weaver, Jim Russell, Maarten and Hilary Mauve, Barbara Jenman, Ulli Niemann, Lewis, Caroline and Ed Silberbauer.

Thank you, Ed and Merran, for the use of the dell  for the aftermath.

The next hack will be on 5 March 2017. Frik Potgieter, hack convenor, may be contacted at frikjanp@gmail.com or on 084 600 9891.
