PRINGLE BAY HACK REPORT NO 119

– Chris Geldenhuys, Convenor

On a scorcher of a late Spring morning on 27 November 2016 the Pringle Bay Hack Group gathered at Droster’s Gat and moved to Clarens Road, where they cleared plots 513 and 514 from some serious Rooikrantz. These two plots, besides the Rooikrantz threat to the Fynbos, posed a serious security threat to the neighbours and also a very big fire threat to the surrounding buildings. Due to the ever increasing temperature we started at 08h00 and by 11h00 a vast area, more than 80% of these plots, was cleared. Jolly good show guys!!!

The following hackers performed the hack: John Whitehead, Edward Silberbauer, Carol Wilson, Karen and Louw Toerien, Ilse and Mike Meyer, Charles Hector, Mike Begley, Ulli Niemand, Robert, Sandy Middleton and her daughter, Anthony and Hillary Harris, Willem and Reggie Stigling and Chris Geldenhuys. This was the last hack for 2016 and a “Bring-and-Braai” was hosted by Louw and Karin for the group. In this festive way the Pringle Bay Hack Group closed down the hacking activities for 2016 and will reconvene at the end of January 2017.

A special word of thanks for the contribution and support provided by the members of the Betty’s Bay Hack to the Pringle Bay Hack. Their efforts and encouragement are, as always, greatly appreciated.

Dave and Lena provided the ever necessary mid-morning refreshments! Thanks Dave and Lena for all the arrangements. Again a special word of thanks goes to Peter and Joyce of the Mini Mark for the generous donation for the tea and sandwiches for the Hack Group – as always, greatly appreciated by all. You served us very well during 2016!

The next monthly hack will be on Sunday 29 January 2017. As usual we will meet on the pavement opposite Drosters Centre, in Central Avenue, Pringle Bay, at 08:00 whereafter we will proceed to the hack site. The hack ends at 11:00. Everyone who would like to help rid Pringle Bay of alien vegetation is welcome. Hacking tools are provided. Contact Chris at (028) 273 8588, or just turn up at the meeting point.
