The trip will be in two parts: the first three nights in the Agulhas National Park main camp then an optional two nights either in the Haarwegskoof Renosterveld Reserve with limited accommodation or in a place of your choice in the area – De Hoop, Bredasdorp or Napier. BOOKS FOR QHAYIYA SECONDARY SCHOOL, HERMANUS

Merrilee Berrisford Qhayita Secondary School pupils admire the gift books Last year a BotSoc member living in our area, someone who chooses to be anonymous, offered to buy the six books in the Indigenous Knowledge Series by Cambridge University Press for the Kogelberg branch to give to a deserving school. Both Curator, Berenice Carolus, and Eunice Jurgens, Senior Environmental Education Officer at Harold Porter NBG, were unanimous that Qhayiya Secondary School in Zwelihle, Hermanus, was the obvious choice. KOGELBERG AT THE CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW 2016

Merrilee Berrisford Last month we reported that the wonderful landscapes, plants and animals of the Kogelberg were displayed to tens of thousands of visitors at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. The twin themes of the South African stand were the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve and Harold Porter NBG. Very good news is that our SA stand won a gold award! We were also featured in a list on the Royal Horticultural Society website, under ‘Pavilion awards’, describing South Africa as a ‘wild garden’ and a gold winner.
