THE BATTLE OF BETTY’S BAY – REPORT ON ROUND 633

Ed Silberbauer

Next Hack no 634: Same venue – open ground opposite the Centre Shop parking area at 9am on Sunday 7 February 2016.

A calm clear day, but so hot that most people spent the morning in the sea water – and who could blame them? The faithful and dedicated worked their way through a forest of rooikrans on either side of the ‘public open space’. We were last there some four years ago and at this hack found no coppiced stumps which illustrates once again the expertise with which the hack group operates. Another job well done.

Hacking were Tony Cunningham from Australia with two of his children Harry and Erin, Martin Bensch with his sons Sean and Michael, Jeremy Berrisford with his son Sam, David Bossenger, Tom Dreyer, Frik Potgieter, John Whitehead, Barbara Jenman, Maarten and Hilary Mauve, Rosemary Fowkes, Lewis and Ed Silberbauer. Christine Dreyer made the sandwiches and Merran Silberbauer made the tea. At tea time we were visited by Merrilee Berrisford, Tim Attwell and Leigh Bensch.

At tea break I announced my retirement as Convenor and handed over to Frik Potgieter. Frik is a longstanding hacker, well versed in hacking and Betty’s Bay. We all wish him well. Frik Potgieter may be contacted at frikjanp@gmail.com or 0846009891.

Ed Silberbauer, over and out.
